Cara and Michael – Grand Rapids Wedding Photography
Posted on May 15, 2012
Wow! I haven’t done a wedding blog post in so long I actually had to refer back to make sure I was doing the formatting correctly. Well, it’s spring now so you know what that means? Lots of wedding posts to come!
We kicked off our season this year with Cara and Michael’s wedding. They were married in late April, and were blessed with the most beautiful day! Considering Michigan’s track record, it could have been anywhere from freezing with snow to scorching hot but their day landed at a comfortable temperature right in between.
I am grateful that this wedding was our first of the year because it started us off on an awesome foot. We loved shooting this wedding! Cara and Michael are so easy going, and their families were so organized and helpful, it really made this day a joy for us.
Aside from the ease of the day, my favorite moment was pre ceremony pictures. When we first arrived at the location, we drove around to scope out potential photo locations so we were prepared when we took all of the portraits. We shot the bridesmaids and groomsmen in the places we picked out previously, but when it came to Cara and Michael, since they saw each other before the ceremony, we had enough time to improvise. When we rounded one side of the building across the street, we came upon the most unexpected setting. There was lush grass, large trees, and dandelion fluff floating through the air. It was gorgeous! It’s so inspiring and exciting to stumble upon these little oasis’ when shooting a wedding.
I hope you all enjoy recap of their day! Congratulations Cara and Michael!

“It happened in the nick of time.
Unexpected, sweet surprise.

With one hello, I’ll never be the same.”

Kai and I are so excited to be working with these two! Dorrie and I have been friends since kindergarten and she is probably my oldest friend. She is so vivacious, outgoing, and funny, and Dan compliments her perfectly. They make a beautiful couple, and we are so happy to be photographing their wedding!
Kai shot their engagement pictures on a gorgeous, sunny day. This spring has been perfect for us! Unfortunately, I couldn’t go along, but Dorrie and Dan were so comfortable in front of the camera my help wasn’t even needed. Enjoy the preview!

Jessica and Mike – Ann Arbor Engagement Photography

A couple of weekends ago we trekked out to Ann Arbor for Jessica and Mike’s engagement session! They are planning their wedding from out of state, so they had a packed weekend full of wedding planning. Fortunately, they had some time for this session!
We loved shooting these two. They kept insisting that they were uncomfortable in front of the camera but we didn’t get that impression at all! They took direction so well, and also were so darling when they interacted with each other. This session was a blast and some of these images are Kai’s new favorites!

Christine and Morgan – Grand Rapids Engagement Photography

These pictures are deceiving. The weather looks calm and bright, but on the contrary, it was windy and freezing! Christine and Morgan were such good sports. Despite our numb fingers and toes, we laughed throughout the session while quoting some of our favorite television shows and movies. It’s so much fun when we can connect with our clients’ sense of humor!
It’s also easy to see that Christine and Morgan made phenomenal models. These two are such a gorgeous couple and we look forward to taking many more pictures of them at their wedding!
Because it was so frigid outside, Christine and Morgan brought up the idea of shooting a portion of the session indoors. Instead of driving to a location for these shots, we opted to hold the session in our house! The first images were taken in our office.
Congratulations, C+M, on your engagement and I hope you’ve warmed up by now!
