Charlie’s Senior Pictures – Grand Rapids Portrait Photography

Posted on September 7, 2010

Our first senior guy of the season!
Kai loves photographing guys – They are laid back, easy going, and no fuss (typically) … and Charlie was no exception.
He, also, happens to be good looking and has a sense of style (a high school guy with a sense of style? yay!)
I’d say this was the easiest session of the year so far!

Laura had her pictures taken in a neighborhood near her house last week.
I’m loving the nature inspired sessions this year!
I especially like the images in the yellow flower field from this session.

Brynn’s Senior Pictures – Grand Rapid’s Portrait Photography

Posted on September 5, 2010

Kai shot Brynn’s senior pictures last week in a natural setting.
I think the forest setting is so unique and beautiful. So fitting for such a lovely girl!
Is it just me or is Brynn a prettier version of Miley Cyrus?
I love her look!

Jen and Nathan – Grand Rapids Wedding Photography

Posted on September 3, 2010

Warning: Photo overload!

This post has a lot of pictures – for good reason. What a beautiful wedding!
Jen and Nathan were married on August 21 in an outdoor ceremony at Kent Country Club.
Jen had a strong vision when it came to her wedding. She stuck to a palette of soft colors and decorated with roses, glass, and other vintage touches.
We had a blast shooting this wedding not only because it was inspirational, but also because Jen is a receptionist at A.J. Pinder & Co., the hair salon I am a stylist at.
Jen and I have become close friends in the process of her wedding planning and it was so excitng to see it all come together!

Enjoy this lovely event!

I see one pair that I recognize.

And I know,
That I am the luckiest.”

Love these images of Nathan’s adorable son, Tyler.

Butterflies!

Tyler’s favorite part of the ceremony.

Haha!

Jen did not see this one coming!

Jen and Nathan loved the idea of having a photobooth at their wedding, so once they saw that we were offering a reception studio set-up, they hopped on board.
I put together a small prop bin and Jen brought along a treasure trove of props she had lying around the house.
This was a hit! Especially with Tyler, he was the photobooth rock star that night!
Here are some of our favorites …

My motley crew of co-workers! That mustache is an excellent disguise. Bet you didn’t even know it was me. :)

The wonderful parents of the bride!

My thoughts about Kayley Heeringa.

Posted on August 30, 2010

Today is my three year anniversary with my wife, Kayley.

She is rare. She is exquisite. She is absolutely unique. What a beautiful person.

I love her more now than I did on our wedding day. Three years ago I wouldn’t have believed that was possible.

A groomsman at the wedding this past weekend cracked a series of brilliant jokes during his speech. At one point he congratulated the groom for marrying out of his league. As funny as it was, I actually remember feeling that way on my wedding day.

It is impossible for me to express how important she is to me.

I am her biggest fan.

And yes, I cried like a baby when she walked down the aisle.

She was a breeze to photograph! Fashionable, pretty, comfortable in front the camera – What else could a photographer ask for?
Thanks for making Kai’s job easy, Kirsten!

Katie and Kirk – Battle Creek Wedding Photography

Posted on August 25, 2010

Katie and Kirk were married a couple of weekends ago in the historical town, Marshall.
We had a really fun day with this couple! The wedding day was really laid back and Katie and Kirk were obviously both so happy to be married.
We did their portraits in downtown Marshall and were pleasantly surprised by all the awesome buildings. We were both very inspired by working in a new location that provided a unique urban location – really happy with the way these turned out!

Congratulations, Katie and Kirk!
