“The more I see you,
the more I want you.
Somehow this feeling
just grows and grows.
With every sigh I become more mad about you,
more lost without you,
and so it goes.”

Pictured Rocks Anniversary Trip
Posted on March 18, 2009
For our first wedding anniversary (Yay!) Kai and I took a trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (Kai’s part of the vacation) and to Mackinac Island (my part of the vacation). During our time at Pictured Rocks we hiked somewhere around fifteen miles and spent a lot of time visiting waterfalls and admiring Lake Superior. While in Mackinac, we stayed at the gorgeous Grand Hotel, rode bicycles around the island, and shopped. Quite a contrast!
Our second day at Pictured Rocks we went on a twelve mile hike that looped through the forest and followed along Lake Superior. It sounded like a great idea until I realized how long twelve miles actually is! If you know me or have read our “Bio” section on our website you know that I’m a fast walker. Kai kept telling me to pace myself but of course I didn’t listen and at about eight miles I was ready to be carried back to the car. I’ve never been so sore in my entire life! Riding bicycles in Mackinac was such a relief as opposed to walking!
Kai took a ton of landscape shots at Pictured Rocks. It’s amazing how different the nature becomes after crossing over the Mackinac Bridge. I had never been in the Upper Peninsula before and it is truly beautiful.
He are several shots Kai recently completed from our trip!

Texas Vacation
Posted on March 15, 2009
We are officially caught up on our client work until a couple engagement sessions next weekend. Yay!
This has allowed Kai to catch up on some of his fine art photography. The following pictures are from our trip to visit my Aunt in Kerrville, Texas during May 2008. She lives in a community named “Tierra Linda”. The “neighborhood” is built on a nature reserve. Each property has at least five acres in order to maintain the reserve. While driving through the community it was typical to see herds of deer, antelope, cows, and these funny, little sheep called “Mouflon”. Some of the deer were so accustomed to humans that they would eat out of our hands and allow us to pet them. What an awesome experience!
Kerrville is located in the Texan “Hill Country” and was reminiscent of Southern Colorado or West Virginia at times. The hills almost looked like mountains and the trees were lush and green, unlike the more arid areas of Texas. Something that was very unique about the area was the abundance of granite rocks. My Aunt joked about how they “grow” rocks there. They were everywhere!
The weather in Kerrville was gorgeous. Warm, with a breeze … perfect. We visited San Antonio for a couple of days and it’s amazing what a drop in elevation will do. The temperatures soared to well over 100 degrees. We couldn’t wait to get back into the hills!
Kai chose a few pictures to showcase … we took hundreds but here is a small sample!
This was taken in San Antonio at Mission San Juan. We were able to visit all five missions that day.

A ram hanging out in the reserve. I don’t think I could count how many times we said “That’s why I come up here … natuuuure, Goulet.” If you’re a SNL/Will Ferrel fan you’ll know what I’m talking about. “You’re hungry, aren’t you?” Haha, gets me every time.
