Dorrie and Dan – Grand Rapids Wedding Photography
Posted on August 25, 2012
Dorrie and Dan had an incredible wedding day! You might remember from their engagement session blog post that Dorrie and I have been friends since we first met in elementary school. It was so much fun working with her and her family! This day was full of laughter due to Dorrie and Dan’s outgoing and fun-loving personalities. It’s joyous celebrations like this that remind us why we do what we do!
My favorite moment during Dorrie and Dan’s wedding was during the ceremony. Right before the ring, exchange Dorrie’s sister Amy realized that she had forgotten Dan’s wedding band up in the clubhouse! One of the bridesmaids ran back to tell the coordinator while Amy mouthed “the green bag!” behind Dorrie’s back so the coordinator would know where to find it. Fortunately, the ring made it back just as Dorrie had to place it on Dan’s finger. Neither Dorrie or Dan even knew what had happened! It’s little accidental moments like this that make each wedding memorable in it’s own way!
Congratulations, Dorrie and Dan! Kai and I look forward to all of the fun times we have ahead of us with the two of you!

Olivia – Grand Rapids Portrait Photography
Posted on August 15, 2012
Olivia is Monreau’s younger, but equally as beautiful, sister. She is just entering high school, but acts much older. This girl is so mature and did so well during her session with us! We were excited to see that she didn’t shy away from the camera and we felt like we were able to capture some great images of her!
My favorite part of our session with Olivia was the very end when she changed into her ballet leotard and pointe shoes. It was fun to play around with some different dance poses and do something a little more candid. She is a gorgeous dancer has travelled to attend different programs in order to improve. It’s so inspiring to be around someone who is that passionate about their artform!
Enjoy!

Monreau – Grand Rapids Portrait Photography
Posted on August 14, 2012
A couple of weeks ago we kicked off our summer portrait session with a double sister session of Monreau and Olivia. We’ve worked with their family before and are always so excited when it’s time for another portrait session! Monreau turned 16 this past May and her parents thought it would be special to document this time in her life. Aside from the fact that Monreau is beautiful, she was also so relaxed in front of the camera. When sorting through her raw frames I was blown away by how natural she looked in each and every one of her pictures. We are thrilled that we were able to start our season on such a positive note!
While we were out, we took a few photos of the two sisters together. It’s obvious how close they are and we were happy to capture their relationship. Both of these girls are so sweet, down to earth, and a joy to work with! More of Olivia to come!

Candice and Andy – Three Oaks Wedding Photography
Posted on August 9, 2012
Candice and Andy were married at the end of June at a vineyard in southern Michigan. Last fall, we met up with these two in Chicago, where they live, for their engagement session. We took our time and walked around the city with them for a long while and it was awesome getting to know them a bit before their big day!
The day of Candice and Andy’s wedding was hot, but beautiful. The weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony and reception! I really loved how they incorporated both of their mothers into their day. Candice was walked down the aisle by her mom, and Andy’s mom sang during the ceremony. The highlight of their day for me was the reception. They each danced with their mothers during what would traditionally be the father/daughter dance and they all laughed and had a great time! The bridal party had a blast during the reception as well. The floor was packed and it made it really easy for us to get some great shots!
Congratulations, Candice and Andy! Enjoy the preview.
