Emily and Keith – Grand Rapids Wedding Photography
Posted on January 9, 2012
Kai and I were really looking forward to working with Emily and Keith after their engagement session. These two were so easy going, and that was also true on their wedding day. Their wedding was really personal, incorporating traditions from Emily’s parents wedding. Kai and I were very touched by both families involvement in the wedding, especially by Emily’s godfather and stepfather who represented her late father in walking Emily down the aisle and father/daughter dance.
My favorite moment of the day was Emily and Keith’s first dance to “Wagon Wheel” by Old Crow Medicine Machine. I’m sure most of the guests had never heard the song before but the trio of strings really grabbed everyone’s attention. The guests all watched, cheered and clapped while Emily and Keith laughed. It was so fun to see the crowd be so involved in this tradition that sometimes can feel stale.

Cara and Andrew – Day Two – Pittsfield Vermont Wedding Photography
Posted on December 11, 2011
Welcome to part II of Cara and Andrew’s wedding weekend! This is a preview of the events on Saturday. The ceremony and reception took place at the amazing Riverside Farms in Pittsfield, VT. Pittsfield is a beautiful, quaint town near Killington.
Reflecting on this wedding day I can say how lucky Kai and I feel to be chosen to photograph it. I mentioned this in the last post, but we just love Cara and Drew, and are so honored that we were able to capture this important event in their lives. Aside from that, this wedding day was perfect. The leaves were changing, but the weather had spiked to 80 degrees. Summer temps in fall … for an outdoor wedding? Seriously? That combined with the spectacular backdrop of a mountain covered in color, it really couldn’t have been any better.
Oh, and the wedding details were awesome too. You’ll see. Enjoy!

Cara and Andrew – Day One – Woodstock Vermont Wedding Photography
Posted on December 8, 2011
We are really excited to post this preview! This is our last wedding to share from our 2011 spring-fall season and it also took place in Vermont! On Friday, Cara and Drew were married in an intimate Catholic church ceremony with just immediate family present. The following day, they had a large, outdoor ceremony and reception at the amazing Riverside Farms in Pittsfield.
We loved having Cara and Drew as clients, and we also love both of them as people. It feels like we had been friends with them forever, and it made their sessions on Friday and Saturday feel so natural and care free.
The following images are from Friday. We started the day with Cara’s preparation (I did her hair and make up!), and from there we photographed a portrait session around the adorable town of Woodstock. Then it was time for the ceremony! That evening, we also photographed their rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
Enjoy and stay tuned for the preview of the events that took place on Saturday!

Cara and Michael – Grand Rapids Engagement Photography
Posted on November 30, 2011
Cara and Michael’s engagement session was timed perfectly with the fall color – the leaves were gorgeous! Cara’s family lives by Aquinas College so Kai met her and Michael there for the session. These two are so adorable together! I could see how happy they are together simply by sorting through the images. They were comfortable smiling and laughing with each other, but also showed a lot of tenderness in the more serious, emotional images. We are thrilled to spend more time with them when we photograph their wedding next April!
